Concept rendering of the rooftop of the Tibet stargazing-themed hotel that Galaxy Scientific Group involved. The hotel will have more than 80 rooms and can accommodate over 200 guests. Its location is exceptionally good, with a direct view of the Potala Palace from the rooftop. It will also include an astronomy-themed conference room. We are currently in discussion with the National Astronomical Observatories about using the site as a base for astronomy study programs, while Galaxy Scientific Group's own focus is more on promoting Tibet-bound programs internationally.
Galaxy Scientific Group's remote observatory in Tibet, together with the 50 cm Officina Stellare RiFast astrograph, will also be relocated here. At the same time, we will further improve the supporting facilities at Yamdrok Lake, with the aim of creating a more complete and refined stargazing experience for visitors.
We have held a travel agency licence for 10 years and work with a dedicated operations manager. Over the years, Galaxy Scientific Group have organized a wide range of astronomy experience programs and study tours. In the Tibet stargazing tour this past March, besides eight teachers and students from Aberdeen Technical School, the oldest participant was an 83-year-old traveler from the United States. Earlier, we also organized a Nanjing astronomy study tour for the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education. In just six days, the group visited three major areas—astronomical research, higher education, and industry—while also spending half the trip exploring history, from the Taiping Rebellion and the 1911 Revolution to the War of Resistance and China’s industrialization. Our hope is always to help participants understand astronomy within a broader historical and social context.
