準備為自己的32寸望遠鏡換上碳維桁架，正常來說會比原來的鋁管變型更少、重量減半又更方便收納。先做一下實驗，把兩種管材放在一起，一端固定，在1.1米的距離另一端掛上5公斤配重。結果鋁管壓底23mm，碳纖管較好，只是20mm，計劃可以實行。
I’m preparing to replace the truss tubes of my 32-inch reflector with carbon fiber. In theory, they should deform less than the original aluminum tubes, weigh about half as much, and be easier to store. To test this, I placed both types of tubes side by side, fixed at one end, and hung a 5 kg weight at the other end, 1.1 meters away. The aluminum tube deflected 23 mm, while the carbon fiber tube performed slightly better at 20 mm. The plan looks feasible.
