活動簡介

爛頭營，這座隱藏於大東山與二東山之間的百年避暑營地，不僅承載著上世紀宣教士的靜修足跡，更是香港少數遠離光污染、適合仰望星空的秘境。當夜幕低垂，這裡的古老石屋與璀璨銀河交織成獨特的景觀。

無需跋涉山野，亦能深入星空！是次活動獲大嶼山保育基金資助，屬「重塑爛頭營：透過參與行動共創建築復修及自然保育」的教育主題活動，並由香港中文大學建築學院與星河科研社合辦。活動旨在透過專業天文工作坊，帶領參加者深入認識大東山爛頭營的歷史, 加強公眾對大嶼山自然保育的意識，並推廣天文科學知識。

活動目標

• 提升公衆對保護爛頭營的歷史建築及大嶼山自然保育的意識
• 了解「守營人石屋」復修工程及相關研究成果
• 探索大東山爛頭營的觀星機會
• 認識天文科學與星空觀賞，了解其與自然景觀的聯繫

• 名額：每場15人（先到先得，額滿即止）
• 費用：免費（報名時需繳付$100按金，活動當日全數退還）

Overview
Nestled between Sunset Peak and Yi Tung Shan, Lantau Mountain Camp is a century-old summer retreat that preserves the spiritual legacy of early 20th-century missionaries. As one of Hong Kong's last remaining dark sky sanctuaries, this heritage site offers unparalleled stargazing opportunities, where historic stone cabins stand silhouetted against the Milky Way.

This training program is an educational activity of the "Regenerating the Landscape of Lantau Mountain Camp" which is an approved project under the Lantau Conservation Fund.  It is collaboratively organized by the School of Architecture at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Galaxy Scientific Group. Through professional astronomy workshops, this activity aims to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of Lantau Mountain Camp's history, enhance public awareness on nature conservation of Lantau, and promote astronomical science knowledge and stargazing appreciation.

Objectives
•     Respect and raise public awareness towards the protection of historical structures of the Camp and nature conservation of Lantau.

•     Learn about the restoration of Caretaker's Hut and research efforts related to the project.

•     Learn about star-gazing opportunities at the Camp and Sunset Peak area

•     Understanding astronomic science and appreciation, and its relationship with natural landscape.

• Guided introduction to Lantau Mountain Camp 's history, restoration and conservation of the Caretaker's Hut.
• Fundamentals of astronomy
• Practical planisphere navigation
• Immersive digital planetarium experience
• Assembly and operation of 70mm refractor telescopes
• Introduction to astrophotography processing
• Stargazing Practice

• Quota: 15 persons per session (first-come-first-served)
